Cesare Battisti, SAT and the area: ideas for an unconventional profile

Exhibition by Armando Tomasi and Riccardo Decarli

exhibition

This exhibition, presented by the Culture Commission and library of SAT, consists of 16 panels in the foyer of the Casa della SAT. The panels summarise the life of Battisti, detailing his role as a geographer, particularly his relationship with SAT, as well as his cave and mountain hiking and his role in the spread of skiing in Trentino.

Visitors learn that some sections of the Italian Alpine Club are dedicated to him, such as mountain refuges and some CAI Divisions. Climbers have also commemorated Battisti with new routes spanning the entire Alps and even in Ethiopia.

Finally, a number of routes retracing Battisti’s steps in Paganella and the Brenta Dolomites have been created.
