Wonderful Nativity
In front of the Nativity (half of the twentieth century)

Pedrotti Brothers, Davanti al presepe (In front of the Nativity), half of the twentieth century, silver–nitrate gelatin print, cm 18 x 24. Trento, AFS, Fondo Fratelli Pedrotti
The tender scene created by the Pedrotti brothers emphasizes the spirit of wonder, which is renewed before the mystery of the Incarnation, and here the figure of the shepherd inebriated by the Revelation is evoked by the child's gaze, "for whom the candle is a star", as T.S. Eliot (Nobel Prize in Literature in1948) wrote in a poem of his. The poet also invited us as adults to hold on to our inborn capacity for wonder.
