Who fears the Twentieth Century? Science and music of yesterday: four antidotes to skepticism
A series of lessons-concerts to overcome skepticism and fear of the 20th Century music, which often come from the lack of knowledge

The initiative proposes four "antidotes" to skepticism, as the musicologist, composer and Professor of Musicology and History of Music Marco Uvietta pointed out during the presentation of the meetings at the Department of Humanities. The idea is to deal with four works, which have been selected among the extended catalogue of masterpieces of the second half of the 20th Century.
The festival has been organized by the Laboratory of Musical Philology of the Department of Humanities together with the "Collegio di merito Bernardo Clesio" and is the result of the collaboration with various associations who work within the territory: the Conservatory "F.A. Bonaporti" in Trento, the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento and the Cultural Association "I Minipolifonici".
The opening concert will take place on the 20th April at 18.00 in the Concert Hall of the Cultural Association "I Minipolifonici" (via Piave, 5) with music by Bach, Bartók and Ligeti.
Four lessons-concerts will follow in May and each one will be dedicated to a musical work of a great composer of the second half of the 20th century:
Berio (Wednesday 4th May at 18.00 – Church of Santa Maria Maggiore)
Donatoni (Wednesday 11th Mayat 18.00 – Department of Humanities)
Stockhausen (Wednesday 18th Mayat 18.00 – Department of Humanities)
Kurtag (Thursday 26 May at 18.00 – Department of Humanities)
Each concert will be followed by an in-depth lesson on a different date
Prices
All the meetings have a didactic and educational purpose; therefore, they are opened to all students and offered to citizens free of charge.
